ISLAM AND DIFFERENCES IN THINKINGThe basis of human advancement has indeed been those differences in thinking. Basically, if we close the possibility of having differences of opinion among the clergy, we have committed the greatest betrayal towards science and Islamic culture. just as if we restrain the existence of differences in thinking within the society of men, science and knowledge, research initiative and innovation would be condemned to death and the advancement of man would be halted and the doors of all universities, libraries, and centers of scientific research and hundreds of other centers would be closed. This would lead to mental dictatorship, while in differences of thought lies the freedom of thought.
