HIS EXCELLENCY GRAND AYATOLLAH SAANEI’S DECLARATION ABOUT THE KILLING OF MUSLIMS IN XINJIANG

IN THE NAME OF GOD

«فَقُطِعَ دَابِرُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَالْحَمْدُ للهِِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ»

“Thus the wrongdoing lot were rooted out, and all praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.”

The Holy Qur’an, Al-An’am: 45

The news of the aggressive and inhuman stance taken on the part of the Chinese government in Xinjiang which led to the killing, wounding and the arrest of a large number Muslims and defenseless people of the area has caused us great sadness and grave sorrow. The despotic government of china, has employed all the various means possible to silence these people who are mainly Muslim, and instead of trying to solve their problems and listening to their grievances, the Chinese government has resorted to putting down the people’s demonstrations, by cutting communications and obstructing the usual avenues of relaying news reports of the atrocities by blocking media reports.

In the absence of media coverage, and blaming the unrest on foreign powers, which is so obviously nothing but false accusations, they have dared to violate the legal and human rights of a defenseless people, and by naming foreign elements as the instigators of these tragedies, they have, in effect, set out to neutralize international protests and measures on the part of the international community.
But the oppressor are seemingly unaware of the fact that the cries of the innocent and the sighs of those tormented souls, and the blood so unjustly shed, shall haunt them, and the cries of the oppressed seeking only justice, shall reach the ears of the world.

These crimes against the Muslim community of china has been committed at a time when the heads of the Chinese government claim to have established amicable relations with Muslim countries, developed economic ties with them and even dominated their commercial markets. But the question is, how do the leaders of china expect to have any influence on Muslims’ economic and commercial affairs if they insist on arresting, killing, and generally acting as if they are living in the age of hammer and sickle?!
Is this how they claim to be willing to join the international community, by putting down the protests of their citizens and answering their cries for justice with electric batons and showing their teeth by bringing out the militia and silencing any protests, and stopping them in their tracks and nipping their cries in the bud?

While drawing the attention of all world governments to such inhuman acts of violence and injustice, I urge them to safeguard human dignity and honor, and ask the defenders of human rights to condemn these acts by using all their legal national capacities in order to put a stop to the recurrence of these atrocities.

How can this not be while the silence and indifference of the international community in the face of the injustice done to the real and legitimate owners of power, who are indeed the people, is so starkly being ignored? This is indeed an unforgivable sin, let alone aiding such action which is most certainly a greater sin and a sharing of those crimes and tragedies. And let it be known that from an Islamic perspective, violation of human rights is among the sins that shall not be forgiven by God the Compassionate and Merciful.
